Metal Protection Tubes -
Nominal Pipe Sizes (NPS) Richards metal thermocouple protection tubes are manufactured using our special processes to maximize the tube service life. This is evident by our uniquely shaped, heavy mass tips, which have been proven in the field for years. Prior to shipment, each tube goes thru our Hydro-Pneumatic testing to check for porosity. Protection tubes are typically made with a closed tip and one thread on the cold end, but they are also available with open ends and various threading options.

Maximum service temperature 2300'F (1 260'C) in low stress, oxidizing atmospheres. Best used over 1750"F (955'C) and up to 2400'F (1315'C) for short term. Excellent resistance to carburization, nitrid i ng, and Chlorine attack. i n oxidizi ng atmospheres. Considered better than 304ss and 31Oss on corrosion. Subject to carbide precipitation between 800- 1 000"F (427-538"C). Used in chemical and food applications. Maximum service temperature 21 00"F (1 1 50'C) in oxidizing atmospheres. Good resistance to carburizing in reduci ng envi ronments. Resists heat scaling. Better than 304ss on corrosion. Maxi mum service temperature 1000'F (540"C) in non- oxi d i zi ng applications. Typically used in galvanizing, tin, molten babbit and magnesium, petroleum, and water lines. Scales rapidly over 1200'F (650"C) Maximum service temperature 2200"F (1204"C) in oxidizing and Reducing atmospheres. Excellent resistance to sulfur, chlorides, and hot corrosion. Used in waste inceneration. Maximum service temperature 1300'F (700"C) in oxidizing atmospheres. Typically used i n molten-metal applications. Maximum service temperature 1300'F (700'C) in oxidizing atmospheres. Typically used i n molten-metal applications. Maximum service temperature 1 600'F (870'C)
