Angle Thermocouple Assemblies -

Example: The part number 8K6-P11F-l8-24-SH signifies an angle assembly, S gauge, Type K, lS" Mullite P11F tube hot leg, 24,'long cold leg, and a standard weatherproof aluminum head. Other combinations of thermocouples and ceramic tubes can be specified depending on your application. Note: lf you woutdiixe a oraer a Type E, J, or N, angle assembly, substitute the K with an E, J, or N, in the paft number. lf you would Iike to order a Type B, R, or S, asiembty substitute the K with a B, R, or S, and a 24 for the I in the part number. We also offer other types ceramic tubes, such as Zirconia or Alumina. Mullite has a maximum service temperature of 2900'F (1590'C). lt is considered to be better than Alumina for thermal shock resistance. Mullite tubes should be used with care, since they have poor mechanical shock resistance. Secondary metal tubes can be added for protection from mechanical damage. Mullite tubes are considered gas tight at high temperatures. All tubes which are used in horizontal installations and at elevated temperatures should be supported. Mullite tubes should not be used for primary protection tubes on noble metal (plati num based) thermocouples. Silicon Carbide has a maximum service temperature of 2730"F (1500"C). lt has excellent resistance to thermal shock and the cutting action of flames. However, silicon carbide tubes are porous so they should not be used if a gas tight seal is required for protection of the thermocouple element. Because of their porousity, silicon carbide is usually used as secondary thermocouple protection tube. The SCI Vpe silicon carbide tubes are isopressed around a steel inner protection tube. This creates a gas tight unit, which is then considered a non- porous tube. Silicon Carbide

Alumina Silica SliP Cast

Alumina Silica Slip cast Alumina Silica refractory tubes have a maximum service temperature of 1500"F (815'C). These tubes are constructed by casting the refractory material around a 1/2" steel protection tube. Alumina Silica refractory tubes are used in molten Zinc and Aluminum die casting applications. Alumina Silica tubes have excellent thermal shock and mechanical damage resistance . They are non-wetting and will not contaminate the molten metal as a stainless steel or iron protection tube.
